Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of KaraokeSpot — the app, the website at karaokespot.us, and the KJ sites we host. By using KaraokeSpot you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What KaraokeSpot does

KaraokeSpot is a directory of karaoke nights at physical venues, plus tools for singers (finding nights, joining the queue, messaging the host) and for karaoke hosts (KJs) to run those nights. We list venues but we do not own or run them, and we are not present at the events.

Accounts and verification

Browsing works without an account. Joining a queue, messaging a KJ, or taking payments as a KJ requires verifying a phone number by SMS. You are responsible for keeping access to your verified number and for anything done through it.

Payments

Payments in the app cover real-world services at a physical venue: moving up a venue's live singing queue, and tipping the KJ hosting the night. Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page; we never see your card. Funds for queue placement and tips go to the KJ's own connected Stripe account, less a platform fee we retain.

Queue placement is fulfilled in person, on the night, at that venue. If a payment does not do what it was supposed to — you paid to move up and were not called, or the night was cancelled — email [email protected] with the venue and roughly when it happened and we will make it right, including refunds where appropriate. Tips are gratuities and are not refundable. Nothing is unlocked digitally by paying, so store refund policies for digital goods do not apply.

Conduct

Karaoke happens in real bars with real people. Do not use KaraokeSpot to harass anyone, to spam KJs or singers, to send unlawful content, to impersonate someone else, or to list a venue you do not have the right to list. Follow the house rules of the venue you are in, and leave when the event ends — venues trust us with their nights, and overstaying or abusing that risks the whole system. Venues serving alcohol may have their own age restrictions, and you are responsible for meeting them. We may suspend or ban a phone number for violations.

KJ terms

If you run events as a KJ: keep your listing accurate (nights, times, venue), treat singer payments and tips as your own income — taxes are yours, we do not withhold — and honour queue placements people paid for. Stripe may require identity verification for payouts; providing false information to Stripe or to us is grounds for termination.

Listing data

Venue and schedule information comes from user submissions and public sources. We work to keep it right but do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, current, or complete — call ahead before travelling to a venue. If you submit venue information or photos you confirm it is accurate and you give us a non-exclusive licence to display it as part of the directory. Venue owners can claim or correct their listing by contacting [email protected].

Availability and changes

We may add, change, or remove features, and may suspend the service for maintenance. We may update these terms; material changes get a new effective date above, and continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.

Disclaimers and liability

KaraokeSpot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for what happens at a physical venue — the conduct of KJs, singers, or venue staff, the quality of the show, or anything occurring on the premises. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the platform fees we retained from your payments in the six months before the claim, or USD 50.

Legal

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding KaraokeSpot.
